Lime render is a lime based mix which is applied to external and internal surfaces. It was traditionally used to give protection to walls that were built of poor quality rubble stone or porous brick. This been because lime render allows building to breathe due to lime been porous, thus allowing evaporation of moisture

Preparation

All existing defective render is stripped back, and the walls cleaned of dust and dirt.

Application

A scratch coat of lime render is applied to the surfaces giving a good key for the top coat. A top coat of lime render is then applied using a gauging trowel or a plasters trowel. Unlike other renders lime render must be applied using as much pressure as possible to force the mortar into the surface crevices to form a close contact with the backing.
